Pork Ribs Oven

Sinfully tasty and mouth wateringly juicy. Who doesn’t like pork ribs baked in the oven? There are so many different ways of cooking pork ribs but the most popular is to barbecue or slow cook the ribs in the oven. Although pork ribs come in different categories such as spare ribs, back ribs, button ribs etc. with the cuts coming from different section of the animal, one way of cooking can apply to any cut and it depends on a person’s taste buds and availability.

Take the port ribs out of the freezer and leave them to reach room temperature. The membrane should be removed from the back of the cut. This is one of the tips for juicy pork ribs although most people forget to mention it. Leaving the membrane will not help in the absorption of juices into the meat and it’s not at all difficult to remove the membrane by using a knife to make a cut and pulling it apart with your fingers.

A good option would be to marinate the ribs by using your favorite combination of sauces or even spices such as onion, garlic and Tabasco. Some like to coat the ribs with mustard before placing them in the oven in order to create a crust which would help seal in the spices.

Pork ribs can be cooked in an oven; but its best to par boil before placing them in the oven since it would make the meat tenderer and also lessen the time of cooking in the oven. The slower the ribs are cooked, the better it will taste.

Here’s a simple recipe that I use to cook pork ribs in the oven. Simple and delicious.

?1 lb pork ribs cut into pieces
?1 large onion & 1 lemon cut into slices
?3-4 Tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
?2 cups of water
?1 teaspoon each of salt and chili powder
?Tabasco sauce

Mix Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, water, chili powder and salt in a pan and bring to the boil. Preheat oven to 430-450 degrees and place the pork ribs meaty side up in a shallow tray and cover with the slices of lemon and onion. After baking for 30 minutes, lower the heat down to 350 degrees, open the oven and pour the prepared mixture of sauces over the ribs. Continue to bake for another 30 minutes while frequently basting the ribs with the sauce in the pan. When the ribs are done to your satisfaction, remove the pork ribs from the oven and leave it to rest for at least 20 minutes before serving your guests.

If you want to give your ribs a grill like finish, after removing the ribs from the oven, brush them with barbecue sauce and broil for about 3-4 minutes until they look brown and crispy. This would give them the look of having been grilled.

Easy to prepare, good to look at and a great favorite of mine which will be yours too pretty soon.
